What is power?

Power is the ability to do or act or the ability to accomplish something. Power is authority, strength, might, energy, force, momentum, control, etc. Power is obtained these days by money or votes. Money is power because with enough of it, it is possible to control the way people work and live. For example, Bill Gates is so filthy rich, he could easily conduct his own army or militia. People work hard for power, by making life changing decisions to adjust and learn what is needed to keep up with. Power is the will and strength to keep going. Once someone doesn't have that strong will anymore, that power can be lost. People that have power usually love what they do. Such as Oprah Winfrey, she helps people everyday because people believe she has the power to help us. As long as people think she is helping others, she will always have that power.

Why do teens join gangs?

7% of all teens in the world say that they belong to a gang, thousands of others don't admit to it. Gangs today are becoming a huge threat to society because of the vast number of teens getting involved with this growing problem. Fifty people die everyday because of gang related happenings. While some argue being in a gang is just a choice, the most important factor to the relation of gangs is influence from friends and others.
All kinds of people have different thoughts and opinions on this subject. Some say teens join gangs because of family or just out of plain curiosity and sometimes even fear. A vast amount of teens in the U.S. have struggles in life and in their family and a vast amount of teens can't handle or control what happens at home. This is usually the case for teens joining gangs around the globe. People also think teens are sometimes pushed into gangs from family.
On the other hand, teens most often join gangs because of friends and family that they are close to. If one of your friends had a negative influence on your life such as being in a gang, what would you do? A teen wouldn't think much of it at first, but after a while that person would probably want to know a little bit about what goes on in that gang. Teens usually want to be part of something that they think is great, like a gang for instance. When a gang of teens is doing something they shouldn't, they feel as if nothing bad could ever go wrong just because their friends are there with them. Usually, they don't understand the consequences or dangers that gangs deal with, some can be other gangs, drug dealers, or just other gang members. Teens sometimes get called into gangs from friends that they have grown up with throughout their lives and maybe even family members. Gangs can hit home hard when it comes to gang related activity, one of the worst case scenarios would be a drive by at a cousin's house house or something. For example someone I know was in a situation where he had been shot in the leg because of a gang fight. And quite obviously, he had to be taken to the hospital and was arrested for prior gang activity. This had a huge impact on my life because I was very close to this person, and he has been locked up for a long time now. For instance,if he didn't get caught, I'm pretty sure I would be a whole different person right now from his influence.
Teens get influenced by so many things these days and gangs just happen to be one of them. Teen gangs are a growing problem in the U.S. and all around the world this is growing as a potential threat.

What is another way to look at video games?

Video games have many points of view from everyone around the world. Some people think they are a waste of time and money, and some people think they are fun and an escape of reality. I think everyone has their own opinion about it, and thats fine, but i happen to be one of those people that enjoys video games at the fullest. In my last post I was talking about the responsibility of college students with video games, well thats where my point is. If you aren't responsible enough to get your work done from school then you shouldn't be playing them. Video games are meant for free time when your done with everything and you just want to chill play with your friends. Parents always say "why are you ALWAYS on those video games" and "get off those games before you get grounded" and they just don't understand how fun these amazing games really are. Parents are an amazing example of anti-GAMERS they always want you to get off right when you're about to beat a level or get a new weapon or something. I think its because parents are worried that you will get addicted and you won't be able to do what you want in life. Mostly because, if you do get addicted, you will probably become some kind of low self esteem person that always dresses in black. But back to parents, they just want us to explore what they didn't get to do when they were our age. Don't get me wrong, I love video games, but when it comes to family and school I pay attention and concentrate on whats important.

Video game addiction has penalties.

I found a cool website that shows why its important not to get hooked on these video games. The website talks about how college students are getting hooked on video games and are losing concentration on their work. College students are responsible enough to limit themselves from video games, in my opinion. The site also talks about how some kid the age of 21 killed himself, just because of a game called "EverQuest" they found him dead in front of his computer screen one day. That is really sad and that's an example of taking gaming way to far. Gaming is for fun and only should be done for limited amounts of time. School is should be your top priority right now instead of games. This is just a heads up to any of you out there, and its me saying DONT GET SERIOUS ABOUT GAMING.

Intro to the gaming community

As part of Team3 I am excited to be blogging this year on the topic of co-existence. Millions of people around the world are part of this gaming community. There are many game consoles that people use all the time 24/7 people come together to out shoot, think, and score on each other in many different game varieties. Why do people waste their time doing this? Why do people do this 24/7? Its the same reason why you text all the time, or you get on myspace all day everyday. It's FUN!! It brings you out of reality and connects you with your friends and all types of people all over the world! And there are all types of games to fit your style. If you like football, Madden 09 is the game for you. If you like UFC, UFC 2009 Undisputed is the game for you! Or if you like the puzzle thinking games, I don't really know exactly know the names of many but you can search games like that online.
